21 ^(A)When they had approached Jerusalem and had come to Bethphage, at ^(B)the Mount of Olives, Jesus then sent two disciples, ² saying to them, “Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied there and a colt with it. Untie them and bring them to Me. ³ And if anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord needs them,’ and he will send them on immediately.” ⁴ Now ^(C)this ^[a]took place so that what was spoken through ^[b]the prophet would be fulfilled:

11 ^(A)And as they *approached Jerusalem, at Bethphage and ^(B)Bethany, near ^(C)the Mount of Olives, He *sent two of His disciples, ² and *said to them, “Go into the village opposite you, and immediately as you enter it you will find a colt tied there, on which no one has ever sat; untie it and bring it here. ³ And if anyone says to you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord has need of it’; and immediately he ^[a]will send it back here.” ⁴ They went away and found a colt tied at the door, outside in the street; and they *untied it. ⁵ And some of the bystanders were saying to them, “What are you doing, untying the colt?” ⁶ And they told them just as Jesus had said, and they gave them permission. ^7 (D)They *brought the colt to Jesus and *put their cloaks on it; and He sat on it. ⁸ And many people spread their cloaks on the road, and others spread leafy branches which they had cut from the fields. ⁹ And those who went in front and those who followed were shouting:

²⁸ After Jesus said these things, He ^(A)was going on ahead, ^(B)going up to Jerusalem.

^29 (C)When He approached Bethphage and ^(D)Bethany, near the ^[a]mountain that is called ^(E)Olivet, He sent two of the disciples, ³⁰ saying, “Go into the village ^[b]ahead of you; there, as you enter, you will find a colt tied, on which no one yet has ever sat; untie it and bring it here. ³¹ And if anyone asks you, ‘Why are you untying it?’ you shall say this: ‘^[c]The Lord has need of it.’” ³² So those who were sent left and found it just as He had told them. ³³ And as they were untying the colt, its ^[d]owners said to them, “Why are you untying the colt?” ³⁴ They said, “^[e]The Lord has need of it.” ³⁵ And they brought it to Jesus, ^(F)and they threw their cloaks on the colt and put Jesus on it. ³⁶ Now as He was going, they were spreading their cloaks on the road. ³⁷ And as soon as He was approaching, near the descent of ^(G)the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of the disciples began to ^(H)praise God ^[f]joyfully with a loud voice for all the ^[g]miracles which they had seen, ^38 [h]shouting:

¹³ they took the branches of the palm trees and went out to meet Him, and began shouting, “^(A)Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord, indeed, the ^(B)King of Israel!” ¹⁴ Jesus, finding a young donkey, sat on it; as it is written: ¹⁵ “^(C)Do not fear, daughter of Zion; behold, your King is coming, seated on a donkey’s colt.”
